How to Troubleshoot Gmail Not Updating?

The use of Gmail is like an asset for almost all organizations. While Gmail is essential for corporate employees, nobody pays much attention to it until and unless it stops working. There are times when my Gmail won’t update or it stops syncing, which means it stops giving updates. This is a problematic situation as all the work in an organization is done with the help of Gmail, and all the necessary files are stored in it.

Methods to Fix Email Not Updating

  1. Try incognito mode: if Gmail is not updating, one can try and open it in google chrome’s incognito mode. Opening the application in an incognito tab will prevent it from causing any interference due to cookies, browser cache, or extensions. To easily open an incognito tab, you can simply use the shortcut key Control+shift+N.
  2. Check Site Permissions: Incorrect site permissions can also be one of the causes for Emails not updating or working properly. For example, you may not have allowed Gmail to send you a notification, and due to this, all the new alerts are not coming to your end. So, you need to reset Gmail permissions.
  3. Is the application down: There are chances that Gmail might not be working or responding because the application is down. This situation does not occur on a frequent basis, but it can happen sometimes. This is because Google’s services crash occasionally. To check if this is the case, there are a number of ways.
  4. Re-open Gmail: This is a very easy, conventional, and simple way. Also, this is a very useful troubleshooting method, which works in most cases. Close the application and try to open it after a few minutes; this will help in resolving any minor issue, such as numeric code 5927. If Gmail is opened in the browser, then instead of only closing the Gmail tab, try closing all the tabs.
  5. Re-Add your account: if the app is not responding and the Gmail is not updating, you can try removing your account and adding it back after some time. This method proves to be helpful in some cases. This way, you may face some inconvenience because your google account is providing you with various services at the same time on your phone. But one can give this a try if no other method is working.
  6. Check internet connectivity: Is your Gmail even creating any problem, or does the root cause lies in the connectivity issue? If you are unsure about the internet connection, you should try opening other applications to see whether they are responding or not. If everything else is working except your Email, then there are no such problems relating to an internet connection.
  7. Clear all the data: Data and cache are the two things that help in keeping all the functions running smoothly. But sometimes, these things get corrupted. In such situations, it is advised to clear all the data and cache and start everything new. There can be a possibility that by doing this, Gmail will start to give updates.

Above given are the seven easy tips to fix the problem of why my Gmail won’t update or not giving updates.
